Do you hate dental issues, like tooth decay, enamel erosion, and gum disease? If so, our Vallderuten Dental Associates dental team encourages you to do all you can to prevent these issues on a regular basis. You can do so by keeping up on oral hygiene, visiting your dentist, and having proper exposure to fluoride.

Fluoride is a beneficial and natural mineral that can be found in food and water. It, fortunately, nourishes and strengthens our teeth so they can fight the bacteria living in your mouth. Each day, your teeth go through two processes: a demineralization process and a remineralization process. If your teeth aren’t properly exposed to fluoride every day, only the demineralization process will occur, which will make your teeth weak and vulnerable to dental issues like tooth decay, tooth sensitivity, and gum disease. You can prevent this by brushing with fluoride toothpaste twice a day, swishing with fluoride mouthwash once a day, and receiving a professional fluoride treatment every six months at Vallderuten Dental Associates.

The fluoride treatment at our office is easy and simple. It will come in the form of a foam, gel, or varnish and it will most likely be flavored to make it more enjoyable. Your hygienist will either paint the fluoride onto your teeth or will place the fluoride into a tray and will put the tray into your mouth. You will then wait for time to pass, allowing the fluoride minerals to seep into the enamel of your teeth. When the time is up, you will rinse your mouth free from the fluoride.
